WHAT IS VINEYARD?
The Vineyard doesn’t consider itself a denomination, and it doesn’t operate like mainline denominations with a heavy top-down structure. Born out of the Jesus Movement in the 1960s and 70s, worship through music has always been at the heartbeat of Vineyard gatherings. This is a movement of people away from an institutionalism characterized by legalism and/or stagnant faith, and into authentic relationships with each other and God. You’ll find us all over the board in dress on a Sunday morning – come as you are! We sometimes get caught up in talking and don’t even start the service on time – that’s okay.
Sunday’s at 10 am is a time for catching up, sharing stories, singing God songs as a way of opening up our ears and hearts to who God is and what God is saying, and hearing a teaching from Scripture that furthers that understanding. We are again meeting unmasked and in-person, and we welcome you to wear your mask if you choose, but join us for worship in song and word. Or, join us online at our YouTube channel here.

OUR STORY
OUR MISSION
& VISION
As a church, we seek to present the gospel in a relaxed and contemporary setting. Our desire is for people to build significant relationships, to grow as worshipers, and to become equipped as servants of God.
Our move to the Big Red Barn (as we sometimes affectionately call it), didn’t happen until 1994, but Lansing Vineyard was launched in 1986.
Fresh from a theological education in California, Founding Pastor Ed Reynolds jokingly describes himself as a “hippie who didn’t really belong in a church.” But in the Vineyard movement, under the mentorship of John Wimber, he found a home. Lansing Vineyard became the first Vineyard Church in Michigan, and after worshipping in a few different locations, Ed and wife, Cindy, with four children, finally settled, purchasing the land and buildings at Jolly & Hagadorn after several racoon families ran all the tenants (except the church) away. Gratefully, there are no more pest problems!
With just over two acres and 30,000 square feet of space in four buildings, we have plenty of space for worship, state of the art music and audio/visual, and education. In addition, we lease to community businesses, host community events, and have one residential dwelling on our property.
Extensive renovations allowed the church to move from the upper level of the barn to the main floor, creating accessibility, a big commercial kitchen and dining/meeting spaces, outdoor facilities, new bathrooms, and children’s education rooms.
PLAN A VISIT
If you’re looking for something real – relaxed atmosphere and authentic people hungry and thirsty for something more, we hope you’ll come get to know us. Be yourself, whether that’s dressy or casual, by yourself, or with a family or group. The Keurig is on and the music team is warming up. The people are welcoming and there’s no need to be anxious. We are again offering children’s classes and a nursery for little ones during the service, and seeking volunteers for this important ministry as we return to more normalcy after pandemic.

Grownups gather around round tables to worship in song and word, to hear what's real from Scripture and what's real for us as humans --- and the tension between them. If you’d like to meet someone or take a tour in advance, we welcome you to call or send an email to a staff member or ministry leader. We look forward to your visit!
